What to Expect at Your First Brazilian Wax

If you’ve been thinking about getting a Brazilian wax but feel nervous (or straight-up terrified), you’re not alone. I’ve worked with hundreds of first-time clients who’ve walked into Rebel Wax Studio unsure of what to expect and walked out wondering why they waited so long. In this post, I’ll walk you through exactly what to expect at your first Brazilian wax so you can feel confident, prepared, and ready to ditch the razor for good.

1. First, Let’s Talk About What a Brazilian Wax Is

A Brazilian wax removes all (or almost all) of the hair from your bikini area… front, back, and everything in between. You can choose to leave a strip or triangle if you prefer, or go completely bare. We’ll walk you through your options during your appointment and tailor the wax to your comfort level.

2. How to Prepare Before Your Appointment

Great results start with great prep!

Here’s what you should do before coming in:

• Let your hair grow out to at least ¼ inch (about the length of a grain of rice). That’s usually around 2–3 weeks of no shaving.

• Avoid caffeine and alcohol the day of your appointment. Both can make you more sensitive.

• Exfoliate 24–48 hours before to help remove dead skin and prevent ingrowns.

• Skip lotions and oils on the day of your wax… clean, dry skin is best.

• Wear loose clothing to your appointment for extra comfort afterward.

3. What Happens During Your Wax

At Rebel Wax Studio, we specialize in making the experience as quick and comfortable as possible.

Here’s a breakdown:

• We’ll chat briefly and go over any questions or concerns.

• You’ll undress from the waist down and get comfortable on the treatment table (we turn our backs for privacy).

• We provide feminine wipes if needed.

• We use our own high-quality Rebel hard wax, designed for sensitive skin and intimate areas.

• We’ll talk you through the process as we go, use gentle pressure after each strip, and keep the vibe relaxed.

• The whole Brazilian typically takes 20-25 minutes for first-timers—and it gets quicker and easier each time!

4. What to Expect After Your Appointment

Your skin might be a little pink and sensitive—totally normal. We’ll apply a soothing post-wax treatment, and you’ll get aftercare instructions to help keep things smooth and bump-free.

Here are a few aftercare basics:

• Avoid hot tubs, sex, workouts, or saunas for 24 hours

• Exfoliate gently and regularly after 2–3 days to prevent ingrowns

• Use a recommended ingrown serum daily (we have some amazing ones at the studio!)

• Book your next wax in 4–6 weeks for best results

5. Final Thoughts: It’s Normal to Be Nervous

Everyone feels a little unsure before their first Brazilian—that’s why we prioritize comfort, communication, and results. Our clients always say it wasn’t nearly as bad as they expected—and the smooth skin is so worth it.
